The world’s preoccupation Matthew 24:37, 38.

In spite of anything we experience in this world that should turn our attention to the fact that Jesus is on the brink of His return to this world, we continue as though earthquakes, famines and war are simply a part of life. Nothing to be concerned about! Notice the impact of the proclamation that Jesus will return; “But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38  For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.”

Examine the effect the approach of Christ has on the world. Remember this establishes the indifference and rebellion of mankind toward all the judgments that have fallen upon them. Revelation 9:20, 21 announces, “And the rest of the men which were not killed by these plagues yet repented not of the works of their hands, that they should not worship devils, and idols of gold, and silver, and brass, and stone, and of wood: which neither can see, nor hear, nor walk: 21 Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts.”

The difficulty of evangelization today indicates that men are resistant to anything that attempts to break their devotion to the world. Their devotion is so extreme they refuse to surrender. Revelation 16:9 “And men were scorched with great heat, and blasphemed the name of God, which hath power over these plagues: and they repented not to give him glory.”
