Destruction increasing in the natural world Matthew 24:7

The material world is obviously of extreme importance. It is absolutely necessary to our existence. We must have fresh air, clean water, fertile land, and shelter from the extreme changes that take place in the atmospheric heavens above us. Today many are terrified by “climate change!” They speak of it as the greatest threat to human existence, but human existence is completely in God’s hands. However, prophetical statements in the bible underscore the fact that God will use the atmospheric heavens and geological activity to bring judgments on the earth. The verse above declares “…there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places” before the end of this age. But more importantly we see that God plans to use the material world to combat sin in the world. Therefore we should mark catastrophic changes that seem relevant to what Jesus said.

In Luke 21:11 Jesus said, “And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences; and fearful sights and great signs shall there be from heaven.” And in the same chapter verse 25 Jesus said, “And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;”

Although we speak of watching current events that indicate Christ Coming, even the smallest fulfillment will merge into a greater event. Notice what takes place in Revelation 16:12 in the natural world. “And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared.” One visit to the internet reveals that the Euphrates, and many other bodies of water, is actually drying up! We do not have the time and space to cover the physical changes that we may be seeing glimpses of right now.
