Nations converging to assault Israel Zechariah 12:3.
If God only gave us one sign to confirm the Coming of His Son Jesus, it should be enough to establish His credibility. But He gave us many. However some seem clearer than others. God refers to what He declares in Zechariah 12:2, 3 many times in Scripture, so we will examine these verses for a few moments.
Zechariah 12:2 “Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. 3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.”
Israel is a tiny nation but is protected by Almighty God. Today nothing could be clearer than the fact that Israel is hated and despised by her neighbors, but one day soon the Lord will gather the nations of the world that want to destroy Israel, and He will destroy them!
Zechariah 14:2 “For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; … 3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. (Isaiah 31:5 As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it.) 4 And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east … 5 …and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee… 9 And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.”
As we watch the behavior of the nations toward Israel it should be clear to us that it is a clear sign of the soon Coming of Christ.
