The falling away from the church II Thessalonians 2:3.

While it is indeed a difficult task to determine more precisely what is meant by “a falling away” from the Lord and the church, it is rather obvious, according to news sources, that in many places in the world, to date, there has been a decline in devotion to church during this time of Israel’s rebuilding mentioned above. I will not attempt to provide a body of evidence, so called, but point to our common knowledge of these matters. For decades we have heard of decline in Europe and England. One statistic of Western Europe underscores that about 18-22% of the population attends church. While the ordinary Christian may not keep up with some matters, we know that there are billions of people that identify with their national religion, such as Muslim, Buddhism, etc. In many nations of the world Christianity used to be more visible, but intense persecution, war, unfavorable governments, etc., has weakened the presence of conservative Christianity.

Many have watched the fact, that in the United States of America, we have experienced a great loss of influence, less attendance in church, fewer pastors assuming pastoral roles, etc. Much of what we have seen seems related to the prophetical statements in the bible. I Timothy 4:1 “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;” And Jesus plainly declared in Matthew 24:10-1210 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”

With such a decline the Beast (Anti-Christ, Man of Sin,) will make war with the saints and overcome them, resulting in more loss, a falling away! Daniel 7:21; Revelation 13:7
